Lobo is not just an apple

This oldie kept popping up in my mind today.

This Box player is really handy except for the fact that I have two blogs under the same account here at Blogger.com and I never know in which one the player will show up when I post it. There's no way to separate them. This time it showed up in my Swedish blog so I moved it.

I noticed that interests and all the other things in one's profile here are now clickable again, like the used to be. That makes for much better blog browsing! 261 people were interested in PUFFINS!

Not a tutorial

My friend Red (who has the blog entitled Coffee Coma), suggested that I'd do a tutorial on how to make those satin looking background tiles in Photoshop. Well, I'm not the right person to do a tutorial for Photoshop because I've just started to learn it myself.

This is merely some kind of lame explanation and gradients are applied very differently in Photoshop compared to Paint Shop Pro.

Set foreground/background to black and white. Select the Gradient Tool which is located underneath the Paintbucket tool. Set the blend mode to DIFFERENCE, and that is the trick with all this.

In my examples here below, the first one the gradient is set to radial and the lower to linear.

Then you just go wild and drag on the canvas. With the radial gradient you can go more wild than with the linear. There you must try and maintain some shadows in order to get the satin look.

Personally I have to admit that I cheat and use the Redfield plug-in for seamless tiling. I know... there's another way to do it but at this stage I just make it a little easier for myself.

Windows Writer

Yesterday I downloaded a little program called Windows Writer. Of course it's basically configured for Live Spaces...which is only natural, but tonight I took time out to explore it a little more thoroughly and saw that it doesn't necessarily have to be Spaces. It works with many other blog sites...except Yahoo 360°.

I'm typing in it now..directly in to Blogger.com, it looks just my own blog with my own background etc.. and I can save a copy of this locally. It is neat!

I was born in Kristnehamn...by the beautiful lake of Vänern, which is Sweden's biggest lake.

Okay...so now I've tried Microsoft's Writer.

Imeem...and more

Almost everything on my Imeem playlist has turned into 30 sec. sound-clips.

Here's what they say about it:

"What are 30-second previews?
When you find a song on imeem that is a 30-second preview, it means that the artist or record label that has registered the song in our database has not approved full-length streaming for our users. Consistent with copyright fair use principles, the song will be streamed to you as a 30-second preview. If you already have the song on your computer, upload it to your imeem profile and listen to it full-length. You can always listen to entire songs that you’ve uploaded to imeem; they will not be converted to 30-second previews. If you do not have the song on your computer, you can buy it on iTunes or Amazon.comJust so you know, there are already millions of songs on imeem that we have permission to stream at full-length. We are constantly working with labels and artists around the world to add more, and we are adding thousands of songs each day. Stay tuned!"

The real Summer came late this year but now that it is upon us it's so hot and humid the brain only works on half-speed. I'm still in the process of figuring out a great way to save my old blog in Yahoo. Haven't even started yet but I don't think they'll give up Y360 just like that, without a good notice. So much is going on now so everything feels uncertain. I'll just go on mumbling here as usual.

On the other blog site I've followed at least two different blogs with discussions about what «friends» are...blog friends that is. One guy replied that «to me you're all just little groups of letters and some groups I like more than the others...» Well...isn't that the case with many of us?! I have 57 people on my list and I don't know any of them in real life except my man... he joined a little later than I. Many of them are just groups of letters to me too. I basically like my little letter groups -- some I feel really close to but then again...that's not the same as meaning that we would be real life friends. I think just the word «friends list» was a bad choice in the first place...«CONTACTS» would have been better.

It's always fun to meet nice, new people online but one should perhaps try and keep the number of contacts down in order for a better communication. I made the same mistake twice.. had 70 on the old blog and now 57. Now I don't care..I just let it be and this concludes tonight's mumbling.
